What do I tell someone when I offer to bless them or meet a need?
You don't need to tell them that this is from Prince Avenue Baptist Church because you are Prince Avenue Baptist Church! Let them know that God put them on your heart and that you desire to bless them in a practical way.
What do I do if they reject my offering?
Don't just offer to do something for someone. Look for an opportunity to meet a need or bless, and just do it. There's a difference between "Can I bring you dinner?" and "I'm bringing you dinner tonight."
What if I can't think of anyone to bless?
We have a resource on our website to help you identify someone to bless. Click here to access this resource. You may not know someone with a specific need, but everyone has a neighbor, a coworker, or a friend. The goal is to look at your existing spheres of influence and ask God to help you see needs and opportunities to bless.
I've tried to think of a meaningful way to bless someone and I'm stuck. Any ideas?
Here are some ideas our team thought of to bless or meet needs of people in your spheres of influence:
1. Take a college student or an international student grocery shopping and offer to buy their groceries.
2. Provide a meal for a neighbor, or invite a neighbor over for dinner.
3. Offer childcare for a young couple so they can go on a date.
4. Plant some flowers for a neighbor.
5. Take a coworker to lunch.
6. Reach out to a widow or shut-in and ask them what their favorite restaurant or meal is. Offer to bring them that meal.
Can I just give someone the money?
The goal of this project is to initiate or strengthen relationships in your spheres of influence. We want to do more than just meet a tangible need. Our hope is that by offering to bless someone who is lost or far from God, you can build a bridge with someone so that you can begin making steps towards Gospel conversations.
Do I have to choose one person/family to bless, or can I bless multiple people?
Bless as many people as you want!
What do I do if I end up not being able to use the money?
We ask that you seek to use this money by March 21. If you are unable to do so, please put it in an envelope, and drop it in the depository located on the Adult Ministries hallway. No questions will be asked.
Am I able to add my own personal funds to this project, or am I limited to the amount given to me by Prince?
You can contribute as much of your own money as God puts on your heart! We want you to own this.
