The best way to connect with Prince is to become a member. As members we partner together to serve Christ, care for one another, and commit to be held accountable to the teachings of God’s Word.
What is Church Membership?
We do not believe the idea of church membership is outdated and unnecessary. In fact, we believe that church membership is an essential part to living out the Christian life.
Church membership is much more than just attendance. As church members, we live in community together to live out God’s purposes for our lives and serve together to fulfill His mission.
If you are looking for a meaningful community where you can be encouraged, held accountable, and mobilized to use your spiritual gifts, talents, and passion, we would love for you to make us your church home.
To learn more about our membership process we encourage you to attend the New Member Class. This class is designed to help you know the next steps to take. This class is offered every few months to all who are interested. Advanced notice of the class can be found in the Sunday Prince News. We request that those interested in membership register online at pabc.org (Registrations).
Steps to Church Membership
1. Present yourself for membership in one of two ways.
#1. At the conclusion of each worship service, our pastor will extend an invitation for those desiring to make decisions to come forward. You will be greeted by a pastor and introduced to a decision counselor who will guide you in your decision to join the church. Persons would then need to attend the next New Member Class.
#2. You may also register for and attend the New Member Class. This class is offered on a regular basis and is another entry point to membership at Prince. At the conclusion of the class, individuals interested in membership will have the opportunity to meet with a decision counselor regarding their decision. Register at pabc.org (Registrations).
2. Express your desire for membership through one of three ways:
(This is done by talking with a decision counselor during the invitation at the end of the worship service, or during the New Member Class.)
By profession of faith (Baptism)
For persons who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and desire to obey Christ by being scripturally baptized by immersion.
By transferring membership from another Baptist church
For persons who have accepted Christ and have been baptized by immersion after salvation, and are members in good standing of another Baptist church. (We will contact the Baptist church of which you are currently a member and arrange for your membership to be transferred to Prince).
By statement of faith
For persons who have accepted Christ and have been baptized by immersion (according to Baptist doctrine) after salvation but are not members of another Baptist church.
Important Note: If your church membership is currently in another denomination and you have not been baptized by immersion, according to Baptist doctrine, we would expect you to be baptized before being added to our church family. We do not believe that baptism by immersion is necessary for salvation. It is better understood as a public profession of faith and an important step of obedience in the Christian’s walk with Christ. For this reason believer’s baptism by immersion is a requirement for membership.
3. Attend the Prince Avenue New Member Class.
This special class for all new members will give you essential information to help you become a fulfilled, functioning member of our church. This class will help you understand the benefits and responsibilities of membership. The New Member Class will help you:
